Pink Orchid shot wide open with 2 extension tubes. Hand-held lamp for lighting.
The sunflower featured previously on this blog as a bud, came out this weekend. It now smiles at me as I go into my flat. I liked the tungsten backlight mixed with the cool blue of the night sky on this.
Bokeh from the street lights in Wimborne and an earwig crawling across the top of these flowers.
This was shot outside of my flat against a cloudy sky. That 50mm f1.4 lens really makes things look almost pinhole. Crazy DOF, haven’t used Canon’s 50mm f1.1 Lens, I wonder what that is like. 1mm plane of focus probably. Sorry, these are ramblings of a madman. I’ve been on the computer too long today. [...]
Laid about in the sun at Kew Gardens today. Sleeping in the grass. Lazy.
A Dandelion against blue sky, found in a copse nearby to Nonsuch Park. What awesome weather. My lunch-time paradise was somewhat marred however by the discovery of an old fire and a giant bottle of Grant’s Vodka (the exciting Vodka) discarded in the grass. Don’t dirty my paradise you jerks! Keep Britain tidy, etc, etc…
I shot this yellow blossom in the studio this afternoon, with one soft-box coming in from the left. I had to desaturate the yellows a tad as they were showing pretty vibrant from the camera. I just had a battle with some squirrels outside. My new flat actually has birds… Nice ones too, not just [...]
This was shot lying on the ground looking up at the flower with a 50mm lens to get the blue sky backdrop. The flower is amazing, probably 11″ inches across. I’m all moved into the new flat, but so exhausted. Just drove back from Bournemouth doing the mother’s day rounds. Hi Mum!
Spent another day in Dorset today. Went for lunch at Pamphill Dairy, near my old school. In the surrounding woods I noticed these Snowdrops and thought that I’d better get a shot whilst I can. The f number was 1.4, hence the very shallow Depth of Field.
Today’s image was taken in the studio with three lights, two with coloured gels for the electric effect. I arranged the spaghetti strands in a wine glass and kept twisting them around until they looked flower-like. Hope you like the shot. Have a good week!
