Guitar shot on the 1D with extension ring. One tungsten light above and to the left. Surprising effect!

Tavistock the Cow relaxing on Elvetham Heath Nature Reserve. She was there with 3 gigantic friends too. I’m not sure what they’ve been eating.
Thyme growing in a shoe at the City Growth project at the Allotment Garden in Regent’s Park to show you can grow in anything. There are a couple of abandoned shoes up on the roof at work, thinking about it. Might get planting…
Apple shot in the studio with Tungsten. One spotlight from behind on full and one snoot to the front right on low power. I hollowed out the back of the apple to get it translucent and glowing. Friday has come at last!
My chief tomato plant shot from the ground up. I used my flash bounced off the wall to light the plant, and balanced it to correctly expose the dusk sky.
I just spent half an hour out in the garden photographing lifeless snails and I found this brave guy. He didn’t shy away or even put his horns in when I picked him up and he was doing all sorts of stunts. He took a bite from a spider though, which I don’t think was a highlight for him. Shot with a bounced flash off the house wall.
Walking through Battersea Park yesterday evening, I walked past this tree that was being lit up from the east when the sun was setting in the west. Make sense? The sun was beaming across London and had positioned itself perfectly to reflect off a building a long way away and reflected that light back onto this tree for a short time. Pretty.
I’ve seen a lot of pigeons sitting around in really busy spots without a care in the world. This one sat perfectly still as I was right up close photographing it.
A great thing about a newborn baby is using it as an excuse to go and do things like feed the ducks. So there were 4 adults frantically throwing crusty wholemeal at the quacks, whilst the baby slept peacefully in his pram. I found these thistles on the walk back across the park.
I spent some time photographing these common spiders with extension tubes for the Canon. I’m not sure they were too keen on my lens being 2 inches away from their webs. But I love to see them up this close. So gross.
Walking over Clapham Common on Wednesday, my head was suddenly engulfed by a swarm of biting insects. I then proceeded to chase the swarm around, thrusting my camera into it and shooting wildly. This was the result.
I’m now proud to be a picklin’ man. My first experiment to create the worlds tastiest pickled eggs began last night. At cost of an incredibly stinky vinegar flat. These guys will be ready for tasting in a month.
I couldn’t resist a shot of baby Phoenix, having not seen him since the day after he was born 2 weeks ago. He’s changed so much already. We blew his mind with an iPad app that makes bubbles when you touch the screen.
